Initial sources (predominantly literature) and further sources (mainly business information) were considered in stage one to understand the measurement of the wealth of successful technology entrepreneurs. Analysis and synthesis of data undertaken in stage two determined the net wealth for technology entrepreneurs in different areas of activity. The nature and importance of the measurement of the wealth of technology entrepreneurs were examined in stage three to formulate conclusions. The research question investigated “what is the average net wealth of successful technology entrepreneurs in the United Kingdom?” The contribution of the study is to bring together findings of the research in terms of the measurement of the wealth of successful technology entrepreneurs

This paper investigates the significance of cultural events for the development of tourism on the Isle of Man. Historically the Isle of Man captured tourists from areas around the Irish Sea including England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland. This was especially the case with working-class tourists from the industrial North of England, North Wales, Dublin and Belfast. These tourism markets were prominent in the late 19th, and early and mid 20th centuries. Recent tourist data shows a fall in visitor numbers to the Isle of Man which has taken effect in post war years. In order to explore this decline, and the significance of cultural events for the development of tourism in recent years, a number of research methods have been deployed involving secondary data to assess tourism development and tourism sector growth determinants. As a consequence an investigation was undertaken involving sequential parts. Part one considered trends in the 19th, 20th and early 21st centuries drawing primarily on secondary data, existing research and archival material. Part two investigated cultural events to provide findings and analysis for the tourism industry on the Island. Lastly, part three assessed the nature and importance of events according to the modern evolution of the sector. External (international) and internal (island) influences on development were considered. From the findings conclusions showing prominent issues from the trends observed have enabled consideration of the importance of cultural events for tourism development

Mobile Adoption in the Arab Countries: A Conceptual Framework

    Get PDF
There is limited research studying mobile phone adoption by actual consumers in the Arab countries, although the region had an incredible growth in mobile usage between the years 2000 and 2014. The main aim of this paper is to develop a conceptual framework that can explain mobile adoption by customers in the Arab countries. An extensive analysis of the existing literature related to technology adoption in general as well as mobile adoption in the Arab countries was conducted. Accordingly, this paper proposes a new conceptual model based on some modifications of the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT2) and adding new variables which were also found related to the studied phenomenon. This research provides several important implications for researchers willing to study mobile adoption in the Arab countries as well as telecommunication companies operating or willing to operate in the region. Consequently, this model is set forward based on future empirical validation of it in Arab countries

Many enterprises are operating in complex and competitive environments, and changes in the internal and external environment have prompted them to engage in better ways of doing business. In order to respond to these changes, and survive in today’s volatile business environment, enterprises need to change their strategies. Human Resource departments are under pressure to keep operating costs low whilst also ensuring they are attracting, recruiting, and retaining talent within the enterprise. To achieve this, an increasing number of enterprises have adopted social networking into their recruitment strategy. This research aims to critically analyze the implementation of social networking as an e-recruitment tool within a Security Enterprise. The research key objective is to examine the importance of attracting Generation Y through the use of social networking sites and also to develop an understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of using social networking as an e-recruitment tool. The research also looks at contemporary examples of enterprises that have implemented social networking into their recruitment strategy. A further objective of the research is to gain an understanding of the attitudes and perceptions of the use of social networking as an e-recruitment tool. To achieve this, the research has taken a mixed-methods approach whilst focusing on an interpretivist stance. Data was gathered through an interview with the HR Manager at the Security Enterprise and a questionnaire was distributed to 22 employees within the enterprise and 84 respondents on social networking sites. The overall attitudes and perceptions of respondents showed that social networking can be effectively used as an e-recruitment tool as long as a traditional recruitment method is also used
